IoT: And all that stuff

Where are we at with Azure IoT Hub IoT Operations etc?
Azure IoT Hub enables streaming of telemetry from a “simple”device to the cloud for analysis and aggregation there. You can write code in a low level device such as an Arduino or Raspberry Pi to read a sensor and stream it to an IoT Hub for collection there.
“Microsoft Azure has a very popular and much used IoT ecosystem based on the IoT Hub. The foundation is coming from around 2016 and the biggest players are the IoT Hub, the Device Provisioning Service, Azure IoT Central and Azure IoT Edge.” Ref
Azure IoT Hub isn’t going anywhere soon. Microsoft has too big an investmeny in it, meaning many are using it so droping it is not an option. It is not at end of life. It is at the end of further developmen, meaning no new features. It is subject to security etc updates.
MIcrosoft’s focus has though shifted to another level. Its’s IoT Operations rins in an IoT Edge device facilitating complex processing there before interacting with teh cloud. “Modular, scaleable and highly available.” Rather than an IoT Hub, it natively integrates with Azure Event Hubs, Azure Event Grid’s MQTT Brocker and Microsoft Fabric.

Other Terminology
-
AIoT : Artificial Intelligence of Things. That is, individual devices with AI capability rather than having to refer to the cloud for that processing. Not necessarliy connected to the internet.
-
IIoT: Industrial Internet of Things. Industrial scale interconnection of sensors etc. Interconnection facilitates data collection, exchange and analyis.
